Wine on a Budget
Interesting chart (ignore the obviously incorrect images):
Might be helpful to finding a strategy for great value wines. Generally, I agree that undiscovered regions, those that border "great wine" appellations, strong vintages across the board in a particular region, and "second wines" (wineries that make more expensive wines as well as cheaper) are all pieces of putting together a great strategy for and library of value wines.
What's your strategy?

10 Most Memorable Wines of the Year
I found this a good article. In particular, I liked:
-
List's depth of varietal- should open some eyes to new things to try (i.e. Sicilian Reds).
- A sparkler in the list! Always nice to remember the greatness of Champagne and its versatility.
- Unheralded, and in some cases, discarded grapes of a particular region. I'm tired of Aligote getting trashed in Burgundy. It can be really nice.
- The Loire is very underrated. If I had one bit of advice to offer to wine drinkers this holiday, it would be to drink Loire. There's just so many great options at $20. Stick organic and small producer if possible - you won't be disappointed

Grapevine North Closing!!!
Grapevine is Closing!
Sort of a sad day... but a great day for shopping. 30% off wine! Only a few things left, but still some great stuff:
('04 Bressy Rasteau for under $45, '05 Trapet Chambertin for around $60, '05 La Clemence for under $80!)
Head on over!
